Toadstool
#b8282f
Mellow, muddy tomato red orange for softer highlights
About Toadstool
Toadstool looks like a ripe red that got softened on the edges. It's still decidedly orange-leaning, but it's not as deep or wine-lean as Bloodshed, and it doesn't have Red Carpet's runway-ready brightness. Compared to Bloodsport, this one reads more earthy and calmer, less dense and serious, more grounded.
I use it when the UI needs a warning that feels human, like a food or community product notice, a venue promo that still wants warmth, or a retail "low stock" banner where you don't want panic. It also holds up in mobile commerce and ad creatives because the lightness keeps it from turning muddy on light layouts.
If you pair it with chocolate browns or toasted creams, the orange undertone looks intentional instead of rusty. Push it next to true oranges and it can start to feel a touch muted, so keep at least one cooler neutral in the layout to anchor it.
