Threatening Red

Threat alert red-orange with tighter, hotter punch
About Threatening Red
On a mockup, Threatening Red looks like the moment orange-red turns from "friendly heat" into a clear, forward warning. It's still in the Orange family, but it carries more bite and a tighter, more menacing undertone than Heartwarming, without going as sharp and peppery as Ghost Pepper. Compared to Blood Kiss, it feels more controlled and less performative, like the red has been dimmed just enough to read serious, not sweet.
I use it for danger and urgency UI labels, food safety and compliance callouts, and product packaging where the red has to feel unmistakably "stop" on first glance. It's also great for editorial overlays and campaign banners where you want impact without the brightness getting glossy. Against cream and warm grays it holds its ground, but it can still feel warm rather than wine-dark.
Pair it with charcoal, cocoa browns, or off-white so it stays grounded. Next to very soft reds, it can overpower them fast, so keep your supporting colors calmer.
