Lightning Bolt
#e5ebe6
Brighter neutral gray with a clean cool cast
About Lightning Bolt
Lightning Bolt reads like a clean, almost-matte flash of gray on a paper mockup, then settles into a softer neutrality. Compared to Clair de Lune, it gives up that faint green whisper and turns more strictly gray, with a calmer, steadier undertone. It's also not as settled and beige-leaning as Distant Cloud, and it doesn't carry the extra warmth and mid-tone presence of Cryo Freeze.
I like it for light UI surfaces when you want the background to feel fresh without drifting toward white. Think dashboards and finance apps where charts, tables, and form sections need a consistent field that won't fight product photos or brand accents. It works well for table headers, secondary panels, and the default canvas behind input states, especially when your typography is cool-toned.
Pair it with crisper charcoals or deep neutrals for hierarchy. If you drop it next to greens or blue-greys, it can look flatter than you expect, so let a darker neighbor do the contrast work.
