Old Study
#431705
Muted, dusty orange-brown with library-worn restraint
About Old Study
Old Study looks like the underside of a desk drawer, where dark orange has been softened by dust and time. Compared with Black Chocolate, it never tips into that deeper near-black brown. Compared with Chocolate Rush, it keeps more warmth and a little more softness in the mids, so it doesn't read flat. And unlike Burned, it avoids that red-heavy plunge that turns into black-ish menace.
This shade sits medium-dark with a muted orange undertone, not quite cozy but definitely not cold. I reach for it on luxury spirits labels and chocolate packaging where you want warmth you can still control, and in dark product photography to make metal and glass feel aged rather than sharp. In UI, it plays nicely for dense controls and card headers on darker dashboard surfaces, especially when the design needs structure more than drama.
Quirk: it leans toward browner orange on cream paper, so if you're pairing it with Old Study, keep your neutrals on the cooler side to preserve the "studied" warmth instead of going ruddy.
