Death by Chocolate
#60443f
Moody, low-saturation cocoa with deeper red-brown weight
About Death by Chocolate
Death by Chocolate reads like a fresh smear on a test print: warm enough to feel chocolatey, but denser and more deliberate than the lighter browns in this family. Compared with Brunette, it doesn't drift toward caramel friendliness. Compared with Dark Chocolate, it turns less cocoa-warmed and more saturated, with less gray-brown edge. And unlike Chocolate Escape, it holds onto a richer, darker presence instead of staying muted.
I like it for fashion and lifestyle packaging when you want brown that feels finished, not heavy. In UI work it's great on interface backgrounds and product microsites where the page needs a confident base color, but the content still has to stay crisp. It's also a solid choice for warm editorial layouts, especially for headline panels that need weight without turning ashy.
Pair it with oat, cream, or a touch of muted copper. With stark cool grays, it can start to look a bit louder than you expected, so I usually soften the surrounding neutrals first.
