About Macabre

Macabre reads like dried enamel on a matte label, darker than a lot of "wine" reds but without the oily sheen. It's a deep, bruised red with a slightly cool edge, so it doesn't feel as heavy as and it doesn't pull back like . Where those go for weight or restraint, this one goes for a tighter, more unsettling focus. The undertone stays firmly red, with just enough ash to keep it from turning romantic.

I use it for alerts and destructive UI in systems where you want urgency that still looks controlled: admin consoles, logistics dashboards, and healthcare workflow screens. It's also great in editorial covers and entertainment promo tiles when you need a warning vibe that doesn't drift into berry brightness or cranberry warmth. Dashboards and finance apps benefit from it too, especially for confirm dialogs and status labels that must read clearly over neutral cards.

Pair it with charcoal, slate, or desaturated neutrals. If you drop it next to warm oranges or hot pinks, it starts to look harsher than you meant.
