About Prickly Purple

Prickly Purple looks like a berry-mauve that decided to go brighter, but it still won't fully commit to the sweet, airy lift you get from lighter lavender pinks. On a UI mock, it reads more purple-leaning than the magenta-centered accents nearby, and more muted-leaning than the darker fuchsia tones that feel sharper and denser.

At #a264ba, the undertone sits in that in-between zone: cool enough to stay controlled, yet saturated enough to feel present without turning syrupy. I use it for editor overlays in creator apps, where you need a tag or pill to stand out over photos but not hijack the page like a hotter magenta. It also works well in podcast and streaming interfaces for selected states and progress accents, especially when the surrounding grays are tinted toward cool.

Quirk: on very pale backgrounds it can start to look a touch "gritty," so I'll usually pair it with a deeper mauve, or give it a slightly darker surface behind it so it stays crisp.
