Funky Monkey
#ad4e1a
Ginger-brown orange warmth with mid-depth punch
About Funky Monkey
I keep coming back to Funky Monkey when the label needs to feel hand-worked, not just orange. It's that deep, saturated ember in the Yellow family, but it holds a red-leaning undertone that stays busier and more aggressive than Brandy Bear and Garfield. Compared to Autumnal, it doesn't go weathered-brown or leather-cool. It reads warmer and slightly tighter, with less muted drag and more punch at the same light level.
For UI, I use it for hover and active states and section headers in ecommerce where you want attention without turning into bright traffic color. It works in food packaging and craft goods, especially when you're printing on matte stock and want warmth that doesn't shine. It also shows up well in editorial sidebars for roasters, spice subscriptions, and ingredient callouts. If you want the difference in one line: Funky Monkey stays red-forward, while Brandy Bear feels amber-flat and handled, and Garfield leans more clay-smoky and rounded.
Pair it with cream, warm grays, or off-whites. If you drop it next to cool neutrals, it loses its edge fast.
