Wine Barrel
#aa5522
Deep wine-brown undertone with cooler, cellar warmth
About Wine Barrel
Wine Barrel looks like the inside of a wooden barrel after it's been sitting in a cool cellar: brown-forward, deep, and steady, with a dusty reddish-burgundy undertone instead of the more orange heat you get from nearby rust notes. Compared with Spicy Cinnamon, it's less "spice first" and more aged wood. Compared with Sienna, it holds extra depth and a slightly lower shine, so it reads more wine-stained than printed. And next to Garfield, it feels less smoky-caramel and more wine-barrel dark.
I use Wine Barrel when I want warmth that still feels composed on small UI surfaces. Think section headers and pill badges for wine, spirits, and bar menus, plus product cards for aged ingredients where you don't want orange to steal attention. It also works for editorial and commerce layouts that need a richer base than brown-leaning orange states, especially on buttons, checkout chips, and dense media galleries.
Quirk: it can swallow lighter yellows and creams if they're too bright, so I'll often pair it with oat, parchment, or warm greige to keep the contrast tasting clean.
