Gentian Blue
#312297
Cool mid violet-blue for clear, calm hierarchy
About Gentian Blue
Gentian Blue reads like a saturated purple pulled just far enough into cool, so it feels tighter and more deliberate than the softer lift of Bluebell. Compared to Depths of Night, it's not pressed-down for darkness, it's clearer and more articulate, with less of that "controlled bruise" impression. Where Galactic Civilization leans denser and more space-grade, this one stays slightly brighter and more color-forward, so you notice it faster in motion.
I use Gentian Blue for media player controls, live streaming overlays, and telecom-style settings screens where purple needs to signal interactivity without taking over the whole layout. It's great for selection highlights and active-state keylines, especially on dark UI where you want the purple to feel confident, not muddy. It's also the one you reach for when you need the accent to read as blue-leaning purple across both light and dark surfaces.
Pair it with cool grays, steel blues, or clean near-whites. Against warm creams, it can start to feel slightly off, like the undertone is being tugged the wrong way.
