Stormy Night

Stormy Night is the kind of dark purple you notice in a dim studio hallway, where the light is low and everything looks slightly dusted. It sits between ink-dark and soft haze: more muted than Purple Noir, less crisp than Fabric of Space, and not as blue-leaning as Midnight Pie. The undertone feels notably gray-violet, so it lands "calm" without turning flat.

I use it for dashboards and finance apps when you want purple to feel serious but not sharp. Think data grids, status badges, and selected-row fills where the UI needs to read clean at a glance, even over busy table content and thumbnails. It also works well in healthcare admin screens for section headers and focus states, because the gray-violet base keeps it from shouting.

Pair it carefully with neighboring purples: the one you reach for when Midnight Pie runs a little too blue-cool or Fabric of Space feels too directive. With warmer grays it stays grounded, but overly warm palettes can make it feel slightly smoky.
