Murasaki
#4f284b
Cool muted violet-pink for grounded accents
About Murasaki
I keep noticing Murasaki when a mock has that "close to plum but not quite" vibe. It sits in the mid-depth range, but unlike Imperial Purple's tighter grape punch or Cosmic Explorer's muted, cold whisper, this one stays clearly saturated while still feeling controlled. The undertone is distinctly pink-purple, so it reads warmer and more skin-adjacent than those cooler, bluer-leaning neighbors.
For UI, I use it as the confident selection color that doesn't turn into the solemn weight of deeper purples. It works well for creator portals, streaming media overlays, and e-commerce admin when you need primary states like selected chips, hover affordances, and confirmation highlights to look noticeably purple yet not aggressive. It's also the one you reach for when the design needs energy without the softness becoming magenta-sweet like Elegant Purple Gown.
Pair it with warm grays or cocoa neutrals; cool steel backgrounds will make it feel bruised instead of grounded.
