Petrified
#8b8680
Dryed-down cool gray with stone dust depth
About Petrified
I think of Petrified as that gray you see on weathered stone under a dim sky, when the light is there but it never feels bright. It's medium-light, but it doesn't "air out" like Eiffel Tower does. And unlike Lingering Storm's cooler, steadier cast, Petrified has a slightly dusty, softened undertone that feels more worn-in than overcast.
For UI work, I use it as a calm stage when you want the one you reach for without sliding into the warmer, more inhabited feel of Concord. It's great for admin surfaces and dense product layouts like dashboards and finance apps, ticketing portals, and settings screens where panels need to read cleanly beside darker controls. Pair it with near-black or charcoal text and crisp dividers, and it keeps the hierarchy intact without getting heavy.
One quirk: because it's muted and a bit desaturated, very warm icon accents can look dull next to it unless you boost contrast or lean on cooler grays nearby.
