Lunar Base
#878786
Mid neutral gray with lunar cool calm
About Lunar Base
On my screen, Lunar Base lands like a soft, dusty plate of gray that's just a bit lighter than the darker midtones nearby. It's not the crisp, workmanlike stop-you-in-your-tracks neutrality of Argent, and it doesn't settle like Mithril's gentler, grounded hush. This shade reads slightly cooler and more desaturated, so it feels calmer without turning truly flat.
I use Lunar Base for surfaces that need to hold up in long sessions: dark-mode editorial back offices, code review side panels, and the gray canvas behind data tables in logistics analytics. It's also solid in media workflows like subtitle review tools and video asset browsers, where you want the panels present but not heavy. the one I reach for when you want a background to feel steady, with recessed, quiet contrast that still keeps typography crisp.
One quirk: because it's lighter than Black Mana, it won't do the same eye-strain "disappear" trick. Pair it with a bit more contrast on headers so the hierarchy stays obvious.
