Matt Purple
#9370db
Muted violet anchor for grounded section headers
About Matt Purple
Matt Purple is what you see when purple gets a little ink-heavy but still keeps its clean mid-tone presence. Compared to Amethyst's warm center and real saturation, this one feels more grounded, less "alive on contact," with a slightly cooler lean and a firmer, more muted finish.
I usually reach for Matt Purple in brand systems and design systems where you need that steady purple identity without the candy-airiness of Lavender or the blue-sticky-note calm of Orchid. It's great for primary action accents in SaaS settings, moderation states in creator platforms, and section highlights in editorial interfaces where the UI has to read crisp, not playful.
Pair it with charcoal, slate, or warm cream so the undertone doesn't look flat. If you set it next to very bright purples, it will pull the contrast down, so keep neighboring accents in the same "mid, matte" lane.
