Hong Kong Mist
#948e90
Balanced cool gray with foggy green neutrality
About Hong Kong Mist
I keep Hong Kong Mist in my pile for those screens that need to feel calm without turning into a blank sheet. It lands as a muted gray with a softer, slightly lavender-leaning coolness, so it never reads like the more balanced middle ground of Cortex, and it doesn't warm out like Gull. Compared to Femme Fatale, it's lighter and less saturated, so the purplish seriousness stays restrained instead of taking over.
It's cooler than Gull and less saturated than Femme Fatale, but it still sits with enough presence to hold layout. I reach for it in dashboards and finance apps where long tables, form-heavy flows, and dense settings need a background that stays quiet through scrolling. It also works well in editorial and customer-support interfaces for document panes where you want content to feel centered, not boxed.
One heads-up: pair it with clean, crisp typography. Let the accents do the work, because its gentler temperature can blur into other mid-neutrals if you stack multiple grays at once.
