About Crown of Ash
Crown of Ash is the gray that sits still. Not the kind that tries to disappear into white space, and not the kind that carries a temperature. It's cooler than Alpine Air but without the green whisper, just a flat, committed gray that doesn't negotiate. The moment you place it next to Casper, you feel the difference: Casper has weight, Crown of Ash has restraint. It's lighter, quieter, the color you pick when you want neutral to actually mean neutral.
Use it in data dashboards, medical interfaces, and SaaS products where the background needs to recede completely and let content breathe. Form fields, secondary panels, any space where you're fighting for hierarchy without resorting to depth. It's steadier than Coast to Coast, less cool-forward, more straightforwardly gray, which means it plays better with warm accents when you need them. Pair it with dark text and it holds readability without the cold tension Ash sometimes brings.
The catch: it's not warm enough to feel approachable on its own. It needs color to do the talking. But that's exactly the point. This is the gray for systems that know what they're doing.
