Desert Dune
#b5ab9c
Warm sand-gray for soft, readable surfaces
About Desert Dune
Desert Dune is warmer than it first looks. Next to Cathedral or Dove, it reads almost tan, there's enough sand in it that it doesn't hide. This is the gray that leans into warmth without apology, the one you reach for when a pure cool gray feels too institutional and you need the page to breathe a little.
Use it in editorial layouts, long-form reading apps, and heritage publishing where you want neutral that still feels approachable. It works in product interfaces too, especially ones aimed at older users or contexts where approachability matters more than clinical distance. The warmth gives it texture without making it feel lived-in the way Couch Potato does. Unlike Ashes to Ashes, which softens itself down to near-beige, Desert Dune holds its ground, you can feel the gray underneath.
Pair it with desaturated accents and type and it stays clean. Saturated colors will mellow slightly against it, which usually means they'll finally look intentional instead of shouty.
