Where There Is Smoke
#c7ccce
Softer medium gray for grounded mid UI surfaces
About Where There Is Smoke
On my monitor, Where There Is Smoke reads like a soft sheet of ash that stayed just a little cooler than expected. It's a light gray, but it doesn't float as misty as Whisper of Smoke, and it's not as even and bargain-neutral as Foil. Compared to Skinny Dippin', it's less airy and a touch more restrained, with a calmer undertone that keeps edges from looking washed.
I reach for it when I need clear separation without drifting toward white, especially in dashboards and admin panels where cards, gutters, and table rows need to feel organized. It also works well for document-style surfaces in healthcare portals and operations UIs where you want hierarchy that stays quiet, not sterile. Think form sections, sidebars, and empty-state panels that still look designed.
One note: because it's lightly cool and slightly muted, it holds up best with deeper gray type or crisp borders, so the UI doesn't blur into its own background.
