Iron Fist

I keep spotting Iron Fist in mockups where the background needs to feel "quiet," but not washed out. This gray lands a touch darker than Ghost Whisperer and stays more present than the other near-white options, with a cool, slightly steely undertone that doesn't read blue-green like Coast to Coast or lean green like Aquatic Edge.

It's my go-to for the one you reach for when you want secondary surfaces to hold together without pulling focus. Think dashboards and finance apps (tables, filter panels, card gutters) where you need a neutral that won't fight typography, and editorial or SaaS content areas that want soft containment rather than blank space. It's also solid for healthcare admin UIs where "calm" matters, but you still need clear structure behind form controls.

Quirk: pair it with clean contrast choices. If you use very pale borders or light-gray type, it can look flat next to a brighter UI shell.
