It pairs without argument next to warmer neutrals and doesn't create temperature drama the way Coast to Coast does. The gray here is almost neutral, almost.

The catch: it's so quiet that weak contrast will sink it entirely. Next to pale text or faint borders it'll vanish. But pair it with actual content weight, darker typography, structured UI elements, and it becomes invisible in the best way. The kind of color that works harder than it looks.
