About Illicit Pink
Illicit Pink looks like a hot-pink that's been pushed a step off the usual track. On a screen it reads sharply saturated but not as candy-light as Candy Pink, and it doesn't have Barbiecore's deeper, burn-it-all warmth. It sits between them: brighter and more electric than Avant-Garde Pink, yet with less density and less confident "takeover" energy.
I use this when I want the UI to feel playful but controlled, especially for hover and focus states that need to pop without screaming. It's great in ecommerce for promo badges and limited drops, and in media apps for onboarding highlights, like "new season" tiles or quick subscribe CTAs. In illustration, it's the shade that makes small accents feel urgent, even when the rest of the palette stays calm.
Pair it with clean whites, light grays, or deep near-neutrals; if you stack it next to Bubblegum-style pinks, it'll look even more electric. If you mix it with dull magentas, it can feel a bit counterfeit fast.
