Sea Lion
#7f8793
Cool sea-gray with muted, softer blue lift
About Sea Lion
Sea Lion is the gray I notice when a UI stops being warm and starts feeling evenly "set." It's medium-light, a bit softer than the more hardware-leaning mid grays, and it lands in a cooler, steadier lane than Nuts and Bolts without drifting all the way into Nocturnal's darker, low-saturation mood. Compared to Ironside, it carries a touch more clarity in the tone, so it reads cleaner than brushed steel but still doesn't look icy.
I use it for secondary cards, form panels, and section dividers where the background needs to stay out of the way, especially in dashboards and admin tools for operations, logistics, and healthcare workflows. In media-heavy environments like CMS review panes and asset management, it's great behind table rows and grouped controls because it separates blocks without making thumbnails feel boxed in. It's also the kind of gray I reach for when you want the one you reach for balance between neutral chrome and calm hierarchy.
Quirk: pair Sea Lion with slightly warmer neutrals for borders if your accent set runs cool, otherwise everything can feel uniformly muted.
